WELCOME TO THE MCCORD FAMILY COMMUNITY ON HOOSIER ROOTS
My maternal grandmother was Erma Ruth McCord, the granddaughter of James McCord. James married twice, first Margaret JULIAN, and after her death, Margaret's sister Climena Drusilla JULIAN; six children were born of each union. It is believed that James's father, Francis, emigrated from Ireland (or perhaps Scotland) sometime between 1784 and 1824, passing through Virginia and into Hocking County, Ohio, by 1825. James moved his family to Clinton County, Indiana in the late 1870s. A few of his children eventually moved to Tippecanoe County, Indiana.
It is possible that between the transition from Hocking County, Ohio to Clinton County, Indiana that the family had brief stays in Adams County, Ohio, Jasper and/or Pulaski counties in Indiana, and Missouri.
This site also contains a little information on the related lines of RICE of Ohio, SPIVEY of Indiana, and ZUFALL of Arkansas.
I am indebted to my mother Martha Catherine Jones Marvel, my aunt Erma Ruth Jones Walker, and their cousins Billie Schaffer and Virgina Krumholz for the years they invested in researching their roots. The descendants of James McCord held annual reunions for most of the 20th century. I am fortunate to have records and photos from a few of those years.
I hope this information helps you in your family history research and look forward to
hearing from my distant cousins; email me at
mccord@hoosierroots.com.

MOST WANTED
Where and when was Francis McCord born? Was he born in Ireland as family lore says? When did he immigrate and through what port? Where and when did he die? The family believes his wife's name was Mary; is there any truth to that? |
